Efficacy in Parathyroid Carcinoma

Sensipar® effectively treats hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma1

With Sensipar® 62% of patients (N = 29) demonstrated a reduction in serum calcium of at least 1 mg/dL in a multicenter, open-label, single-arm, dose-titration trial of 21 patients with parathyroid carcinoma. Mean serum calcium was reduced by 1.7 mg/dL, a 12% decrease from baseline. Reductions in serum calcium were maintained for up to 3 years of treatment in some patients.1

Normal range for serum calcium is 8.4 to 10.3 mg/dL. At baseline, mean serum calcium was 14.1 mg/dL. By the end of the titration phase, serum calcium was reduced to 12.4 mg/dL, a 12% decrease from baseline.1
